Abbott, Undersheriff who was shot in the line of duty on Valentine’s Day (February 14th) 1912 when he was in the process of serving a warrant at a rural residence. He died three days later as a result of his wounds. He was awarded the Medal of Valor posthumously and his memory has been honored at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.
